In recent years, the world of sailing has been undergoing a silent revolution made of passion, ability and a renewed commitment to gender inclusion.
A concrete example of this revolution is the collaboration between Veleria San Giorgio and the team Le Ragazze della RAN, which unites the nautical industry.
Le Ragazze della RAN at the RAN 630 regatta

At the heart of this collaboration lies the participation of team Le Ragazze della RAN in the RAN 630 regatta, one of the Mediterranean’s most prestigious and challenging sailing events, which took place on 26 April 2025.
The Naval Academy Regatta, organised by Yacht Club Livorno, extends for over 630 miles between Livorno, Porto Cervo and Capri: a test of resistance, skill and team spirit.
The team, consisting of eight women and two reserves, chose to compete on board Audace, a First 47.7 owned by Celia Oliverio. This is the first time an all-female team has taken part in an event of this magnitude, challenging the stereotypes of the traditional sailing world.

The goal: inclusion and equality in sailing
Le Ragazze della RAN’s participation is not only a sporting challenge; it also sends a message with strong social impact. In an interview at the starting line, Celia Oliverio shared her thoughts: “We’re eight friends united by this challenge, a way of showing that women can compete at high level and promote inclusion and equality”.
The participation of an all-female crew is an important step in the fight against gender discrimination in the world of sailing, which is still beset with prejudices and attitudes that are not particularly inclusive. Celia points out how many women still encounter obstacles and stereotypes, including the mistaken belief that women on board bring bad luck or lack competence.
Sailing as a tool for female empowerment
Celia’s passion for the sea comes from a deep love of nature and a desire to discover the wonders of the underwater world.
Experience – beginning with a week of research on cetaceans in the Mediterranean – fuelled her dream of experiencing the sea in total freedom and autonomy.
Taking part in the RAN 630 is not only a personal challenge, but also an example of how sailing can be a tool for female empowerment. “Women are more environmentally aware, more intuitive and more focused on being at ease at sea. This approach can be a valuable asset in racing and in life,” says Celia.

The Veleria San Giorgio contribution: safety and innovation
To make their ambitious goal a reality, Le Ragazze della RAN put their trust in the expertise and quality of Veleria San Giorgio, a leader in the manufacture of life jackets.
Veleria San Giorgio supported the endeavour by supplying high-quality products such as Skipper 150 EVO 24 life jackets and 3-hook aluminium safety lines with overload: devices designed to guarantee safety and performance at sea, adapted and customised for team Le Ragazze della RAN.

This partnership exemplifies how the nautical industry can actively help promote inclusion and female empowerment, while supplying quality equipment for the athletes of tomorrow.
A great example of inclusion in the world of sailing
The participation of a female crew in such an important event demonstrates how passion, professionalism and social commitment can come together to change perceptions and break down barriers.
The Le Ragazze della RAN project, supported by Veleria San Giorgio, constitutes a turning point for the Italian and international sailing scene; exemplifying how companies can make a difference by supporting initiatives that promote equality and mutual respect.
If you too want to believe in a world where the sea belongs to everyone, without gender distinctions, this partnership shows that change is possible. Female sailors are writing a new page in history, and the nautical industry can be an important ally in this journey.

We are certain that the future of sailing will be increasingly inclusive, and that companies like Veleria San Giorgio will continue to support this silent but powerful revolution.
